Types of fertilizers

According to the Brazilian legislation, a fertilizer is any mineral or organic substance, natural or synthetic, source of one or more plant nutrients. Fertilizers are further subdivided into:

Simple fertilizer – a fertilizer made of a chemical compound containing one or more plant nutrients.

Mixed fertilizer – a fertilizer obtained from combining two or more simple fertilizers.

Complex fertilizer – any fertilizer containing two or more nutrients, resulting from a technological process in which they form two or more chemical compounds.

The simple fertilizers can be nitrogen, phosphate and potassium, while providing nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium, respectively.

Organic fertilizer – a fertilizer of plant or animal origins containing one or more plant nutrients.

Bio fertilizer - coming from the mixture or combination of mineral and organic fertilizers.
